It feels SO good to be back in California! Our drive down here was filled with such beautiful scenery. We drove down through Montana, Idaho, Nevada and then Cali. Wow, what a drive! My bf, being the ‘guy’ that he is, insisted on doing all of the driving. He did great, though, and we did stop at a motel for one night.
We are currently staying at my friend Brad’s house, which is only a few minutes outside of Yosemite National Park. The scenery here is gorgeous!! When Brad suggested that we sleep out on the back deck, where he has a very comfy bed, I was ecstatic! The temps at night here are perfect, and I saw it as an adventure. I’m not sure what my bf thought at first, but I’m guessing that he loves it now as much as I do. We wake up in the morning to the twitter of birds, the sound of the river nearby and the beauty of all the trees that surround us. The other day, a hummingbird buzzed above my head! I’ve never slept so well in my life! I’m wondering what it’s going to be like when we go home and have to sleep inside. ha ha
Seeing Brad again, after almost 20 years, has been just fantastic. We’ve spent hours talking about old times, having lots of laughs, and talking about our future here, if we want it. Do we want it? I asked my bf. California is home to me, I reminded my bf, so moving back here would be wonderful. But for him, it’s a bigger decision. Which is why I’m leaving the majority of the decision up to him. And he loves it here! As we sat together on a huge rock yesterday, admiring the river slowly flowing past us, he said that he would like to move here. Although I simply said, “me too,” inside, I was screaming with joy! Our decision won’t really be final, though, until all of the work/business details are worked out. I think it’s all going to flow very smoothly.
I’m sitting out on the back deck right now, of this gorgeous self-built home of Brad’s, and I’m in awe of the peace here. Of how relaxed I feel. Though I can hear traffic nearby, my senses are more drawn to the birds, and the flowing of the river. In a very short time, as I’ve sat here, I’ve been visited by a hummingbird, a blue jay, another unidentified bird, a black crow, and a few woodpeckers. I almost feel like Snow White. he he he This is a different type of country living here and I’m enjoying it immensely. I think I may take a walk down to the river again, with Brad’s cute little dog. The guys are off working today, so I have the day to myself to explore, admire, and appreciate.
We probably won’t be heading home until next weekend, so I may be blogging a bit more while I’m here. I can’t help but want to share the beauty that I’m seeing. It’s just incredible. :)
